Yes, I’m on! Witnessing the sea of expectant faces as you walk toward the stage you sense another feeling, one that you recognise as nerves creeping in. You hear yourself say, ‘I am not going to be nervous, I am not,’ and then you repeat to yourself, ‘I am not going to give in to nerves.’ Your mind goes blank, you cannot remember the key messages or even where to begin, your stomach is churning and you feel less confident as you blindly walk onto the stage, like a moth to the light you have become mesmerised by the faces you cannot even see, although you know they are there.

That was me, Annie Slowgrove ten years ago. At the end of this particular sales presentation I was annoyed with myself. I had so much to say and so many wanted to listen but as a Leader I was letting myself down. As an Entrepreneur I was limiting my potential, as a Sales Executive I was failing to perform at the edge of my abilities and making it easy for my competitors to win business from me. And as a Presenter, well as a presenter I was getting in the way of my message, and that was not acceptable to me. And so I vowed to change…
