Making Success Inevitable
Lewis Hamilton uses this method of achievement
Our beliefs are very Powerful Forces that create our mind-set and determine our behaviour. It is common wisdom that if someone really believes he can achieve something, he will do it, and if he believes something is impossible, no amount of effort will convince him to even try.
2d) The Nature of Beliefs - Create a Climate for Success through a Growth Mindset
'Things have not only to be seen to be believed, but also have to be believed to be seen.' - Stan Gooch - New Scientist
I want to examine what a belief is, how they interplay with your behaviours and what you must do to provoke changes in your thinking to create a Growth Mindset.
Definition of a Belief (beliefs create mindsets)
Beliefs are generalisations about:
• Our world around us
• Our capabilities
• Our identity
• Our existence
Beliefs are 'meta' to our experience; they lie beyond our conscious awareness. They are the 'glue' that determines our reality and are generalisations about our experience. You can define beliefs as 'your current thinking'.
Properties of a Belief
-
Beliefs have content and add value to our experience.
-
Beliefs can and do change over time.
-
Beliefs are usually out of our conscious awareness.
-
Beliefs have a structure.
-
Beliefs can be provoked, challenged and changed.
-
Beliefs have different strengths.
-
Beliefs have an energetic frequency.
Beliefs have Structure
The structure of a belief is coded by the brain, in terms of what you see, hear and what you feel, taste and smell - your five senses.
Example: When you believe that running a marathon is easy. Your brain contains an unconscious code that informs you how it is achieved. Your brain circuitry will have been created by your experience through your five senses during a marathon race you took part in, watched or read about. The brains code is made up of your five senses - seeing, feeling, tasting, hearing and smelling, this code determines if 'running a marathon is easy', or that the opposite is true. |
