Alistair Scott

Founder
Fearless Engagement

I believe that the coaching relationship is a powerful vehicle to make personal and organisational change a reality. I have been working with CEOs, commercial leaders and their teams for over 30 years and it is a privilege to support leaders who are always pushing themselves to find their edge.

I am constantly inspired by their achievements and efforts to be the best version of themselves.”

The Personal Bit
60 seconds’ work and play…

3 words that sum you up?
Tenacity. Risk-taker. Self-deprecating.

And 3 words that don’t?
Backbencher. Agreement. Defeatist.

The best audience/coachees?
People who are willing to go through unknown territory, put their talent to the test and are determined to go one step further to reach their goal.

What makes you laugh or smile?
Other people’s humour, skiing off-piste. My own failures… Everyday life on the 7.05am to Waterloo.

Talk to me about…
Risk-taking. Setting up a new business and selling it as planned - but not to plan! Cold-calling and getting through seemingly impossible doors.

Ideal superpower?
Second sight!

Biggest ‘Doh!’ moment?
Getting a client’s name wrong (more than once) after winning a deal worth over £1m in 1995.

When not coaching, you’ll find me…
Exploring derelict buildings. Walking and surfing Devon.

My Objective:

To use the awesome relationship of coaching as a powerful vehicle to make personal and organisational change a reality.

Managing Director | Coach

Alistair’s dynamism and pragmatic approach bring a unique edge to his coaching, making him highly sought after by executives looking to energise their sales teams and their business. He works extensively with teams who have substantial sales targets and high growth strategy plans. His industry experience covers financial services, legal, marine insurance and manufacturing.

He brings over two decades of commercial experience in fast-paced environments. He has a hard-headed understanding of the commercial context in which senior leaders operate. This allows him to quickly gain trust and rapport, making it both enjoyable and deeply rewarding for his clients as they find effective strategies to excel and thrive.

Alistair has been working in the sharp end of business for over 30 years with a passion for driving sales and client management. He is valued for his calm insight, creativity and ability to cut through to core issues. With a reputation for wanting to get involved rather than sitting on the sidelines, you’ll often find him alongside his clients offering support – even during high-deal negotiations!

Coaching Experience

Alistair has experience in:

  • Working with CEOs and their senior teams to develop effective ways of working and build commercial relationships.
  • Building and developing sales cultures that drive and support growth.
  • Developing a sales mindset.
  • Creating honest dialogue between leaders and their teams on the real issues that need to be addressed.
  • Helping leaders understand their authentic and personal leadership engagement style.
  • Supporting leaders to step out of their engagement comfort zone and build maximum leadership impact.
  • The three critical conversations leaders must have to create high performance: leadership, management and coaching. Leadership and management can only inspire; whereas coaching can both inspire and transform.

My time with Alistair:

“Alistair has helped inspire and motivate me and my team to a level I would not have believed possible in the most challenging of situations: through a hostile takeover.
We made it, just!”

Commercial Experience

Business Background and a life in the real world…

Clients Alistair has worked with include: Aon, United States Air Force, UBS, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Eversheds, Slaughter and May, J. Walter Thompson and Lloyds of London. His work helps teams to harness adversity and build confidence to resolve complex issues, enabling them to develop the skills of high-performing commercial teams. He is valued for his supportive and challenging style.

His work is based on the following principle:

Sales is the lifeblood of any organisation, no matter the leader’s position; growth and profit are the responsibility of all and personal accountability is paramount.

  • Being a leader can be lonely and you may not be receiving honest, supportive and objective feedback.
  • The role of a leader is often to come up with the right questions, not necessarily to know the right answers.
  • Most individuals have far greater potential than organisations manage to realise and release.
  • Organisations become shadows of their leaders and this demands that leaders live what they speak.
